US Online Influencer Fined After Mass Electric Bike Ride on Iconic Australian Bridge

New South Wales police have issued a fine against an American social media personality and handed out two driving violation citations for reported reckless operation following a swarm of e-bike riders converged on the Sydney Harbour Bridge during peak-hour traffic on a weekday.

The Incident: A Prohibited Ride

A group of approximately 40 people operating e-bikes and motorcycles proceeded along the primary roadway of the bridge, where cycling is prohibited. The riders then turned around and rode through the downtown area and Haymarket.

"There was a risk of people to be injured and killed," remarked a senior police official the officer on Wednesday.

Law enforcement indicated they did not chase right away the riders due to concerns for public safety but instead located the assembly at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair near the Botanic Gardens, at which point they broke up.

Fines Imposed for Content Creator

Later in the week, police announced they had issued the US social media influencer who goes by the influencer, twenty-six, with two violation tickets for careless operation (with no death or previous bodily harm), with a penalty of $562 and three demerit points each, in relation to the bridge ride-out. They added that inquiries were continuing.

The personality is said to have over 3.4m followers on one platform and over 1.2m on Instagram.

Creator's Response

The online figure spoke with a major newspaper this week following the event gained traction on news sites and social media, saying he was sorry for giving "bike life" a bad reputation.

"I’ll probably take responsibility. That was one of the safest ride-outs I’ve ever seen," he told the publication. "I am a visitor here, and I intend to abide by the laws and norms of Sydney. When I decided to do a meet and greet it did not involve a ride-out, it was just to say hi near the bridge."

"I did not know the area well, it was my fault we ended up on the bridge and I had a decision to make: whether the group rides the full length of the bridge and turns around, which is a crime. Or we reverse, basically, before entering the bridge. I chose at the time to go back."

National Debate on E-Bike Regulation

The spate of e-bikes on roads nationwide has prompted increasing demands for stricter rules. A senior government official, the minister, recently said that illegal ebikes were a "complete hazard on the road."

"Kids have done reckless acts on bikes since the invention of the early bicycle [but] the harm that are presenting at our ERs are truly severe," he stated. "We must ensure we prevent these things entering the country [and] officers are granted the powers to crack down, to take them away, to destroy them, to dispose of them."

NSW reported over two hundred injuries related to ebikes in 2024. However, in the initial half of 2025, that figure surged to two hundred thirty-three injuries plus four fatalities.
